Ο Επίκουρος Καθηγητής Λεωνίδας Φραγγίδης έλαβε το πτυχίο της Επιστήμης Ηλεκτρονικών Υπολογιστών (BSc. in Computer Science) από το Τμήμα Επιστήμης Ηλεκτρονικών Υπολογιστών του Πανεπιστημίου της Ουαλίας, Σουάνση (University of Wales, Swansea) το 1999, καθώς και το Μεταπτυχιακό Δίπλωμα Ειδίκευσης στα Συστήματα Επικοινωνίας (MSc. in Communication Systems) στο τμήμα Ηλεκτρολόγων και Ηλεκτρονικών Μηχανικών (Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department) το 2000. Το 2008, έλαβε το δεύτερο Μεταπτυχιακό Δίπλωμα Ειδίκευσης στα Χρηματοοικονομικά και Χρηματοοικονομικά Πληροφοριακά Συστήματα (MSc. in Finance and Financial Information Systems) από το τμήμα Λογιστικής και Χρηματοοικονομικών (Department of Accounting & Finance) του Πανεπιστημίου του Γκρήνουιτς (University of Greenwich). Το 2017 έλαβε διδακτορικό στα Πληροφοριακά Συστήμα στο Τμήμα Μηχανικών Παραγωγής και Διοίκησης του Δημοκρίτειου Πανεπιστημίου Θράκης. Είναι Επίκουρος Καθηγητής στο Τμήμα Διοικητικής Επιστήμης και Τεχνολογίας του Δημοκριτείου Πανεπιστημίου Θράκης και διδάσκει μαθήματα Πληροφορικής όπως Βάσεις Δεδομένων, Ανάλυση Συστημάτων και Τεχνολογία Λογισμικού, Δίκτυα Υπολογιστών και Πληροφοριακά Συστήματα σε προπτυχιακό και μεταπτυχιακό επίπεδο.
Έχει επίσης διδάξει στο ΤΕΙ Κεντρικής Μακεδονίας στο Τμήμα Μηχανικών Πληροφορικής και στο Τμήμα Διοικητικής Επιστήμης και Τεχνολογίας τόσο στο Προπτυχιακό όσο και στο Μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα σπουδών τους. Επίσης, έχει διδάξει στο Τμήμα Μηχανικών Παραγωγής και Διοίκησης του Δημοκριτείου Πανεπιστημίου Θράκης.
Ο Δρ. Λεωνίδας Φραγγίδης κατέχει πλούσια επαγγελματική εμπειρία ως Πληροφορικός και έχει συμμετάσχει σε πλήθος έργων που σχετίζονται με την ανάλυση, τον σχεδιασμό και την υλοποίηση Πληροφοριακών Συστημάτων από το 2003 έως το 2019.
Τα τρέχοντα ερευνητικά ενδιαφέροντα του βρίσκονται στα πεδία της ενοποίησης Πληροφοριακών Συστημάτων και της Ολοκλήρωσης του Ηλεκτρονικού Φακέλου Υγείας.
Από τον Οκτώβριο του 2018 συμμετέχει ως καθηγητής Πληροφορικής στο ΠΜΣ Ψηφιακό Μάρκετινγκ.
