Professor Ioannis Gerontidis acquired the Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics in 1978 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics and Information Technology in 1979 by the University of Bucharest, the Master of Science in Statistics in 1980 by Imperial College, University of London and his PhD in Operational Research in 1987 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has been a Professor at the Department of Management Science & Technology of Democritus University of Thrace since 2002. Previously he worked in Civil Aviation Authority as an Analyst until 1986 and in the Department of Mathematics of AUTH as a member of the Technical Staff from 1986 to 2002.
He has participated in research projects funded by the European Union as a scientific director and as a member. He has published a significant number of research papers in international scientific journals and papers in international and national conferences. His current research interests include: Stochastic Models and Fuzzy Methods of Applied Probability as well as Statistical Methods in Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery.
He is a reviewer in international journals such as: Journal of Applied Probability, Journal of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, and International Journal of Applied Fuzzy Sets on General State Spaces.
Dr. Ioannis Gerontidis teaches at the Department of Management Science & Technology of International Hellenic University undergratuate as well as postgraduate classes.
